50 YEARS OF DIVING HERITAGE
IT ALL BEGAN WITH A LETTER
Everything started with a letter from a professional diver in the Hiroshima prefecture of Japan. The diver explained that in depths greater than 300 m - when using a diving capsule and saturation diving techniques - most watches get damaged. In response to this request, Seiko established a new development team. After years of research development, the world’s first Professional Diver’s 600 m with titanium case was created.

Prospex owes its origin to the blissful depths of the oceans. To honour its origin, Seiko launched the Prospex Save the Ocean Collection - a 2018 project aimed at the preservation of the Earth's maritime environment. A portion of the sales was donated to the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Centre - an institution aimed at making a direct and positive contribution towards the health of our planet's oceans.
