This limited edition timepiece is one of a small collection to commemorate the 145th Anniversary of the beginnings of Seiko as a Tokyo clock and watch repair shop in 1881.
These pieces take design and watchmaking inspiration from moments in Seiko’s history, bringing them up to date for today with the latest technical and design innovations and gold-coloured accents.
In 1969, the King Seiko 45KS launched and was entered into international watchmaking competitions for accuracy, becoming Seiko’s, and Japan’s, first ever certified ‘Chronometre,’ as an exceptionally accurate mechanical timepiece.
The 2026 redux echoes the original silhouette with its narrow link bracelet, curved case shape, date feature and 12 o’clock index cut like an arrow feather, signifying the aim for a target; Seiko’s progression towards the future. Under the box sapphire glass is a grey Nanako stamped pattern dial – a special pattern used by Seiko’s founder, Kintaro Hattori, and the Head Engineer of Seikosha, Tsuruhiko Yoshikawa, on Seiko’s original pocketwatches when Seiko moved from repairing clocks and watches to creating them.
This timepiece is crafted to be only 9.9mm in depth, powered by Seiko’s slimmest automatic in-house calibre. With a bi-directional and semi-instantaneous winding mechanism, this 6L35 timepiece is highly practical, and accurate to +15/-10 seconds per day, with a 45-hour power reserve.
Long live the new King Seiko: modernised elite watchmaking, yet its stately, dignified and majestically classic looks remain.
*In an actual product, the case back direction might be different from the photograph.
