In 1968, Seiko launched a revolutionary new innovation with the world’s first hi-beat Diver’s watch. With a case design inspired by the original 1968 piece, carrying the name ‘Marinemaster’ from Seiko’s heritage in diving watchmaking, this new re-interpretation has the same 300m water resistance.
This limited edition Diver has been created in collaboration with JAMSTEC (the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), inspired by the construction of the ‘Mirai II;’ Japan’s first icebreaking polar research vessel.
The dial expresses the oceanographic research ship’s trail through the ice; its thick transparent paint is polished to create a deep lustrous effect. Under dual-curved sapphire crystal glass, the blue gradient dial has a satin-finished professional grade texture, purpose-designed to reduce light reflection for high contrast under water, optimised for diving conditions. A streamlined case, with the crown in the comfy 4 o’clock position, strong Lumibrite for legibility at the darkest depths and a unidirectional rotating bezel meet ISO Diving standards. This Air Diver features a ceramic insert bezel and a super-hard coating for increased scratch resistance.
The bracelet features a three-fold one-push sliding micro-adjustable clasp. The caseback features ‘JAMSTEC LIMITED EDITION’ and the piece’s limited edition number.
Especially crafted for divers, the 8L45 calibre is a highly accurate, reliable and robust movement. Crafted at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Japan’s Iwate prefecture, this calibre is accurate to +10/-5 seconds per day with a 72-hour power reserve.
Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
