A new Prospex creation celebrates Seiko’s 145th anniversary in Edo purple, reflecting an
evolving aesthetic shaped by Tokyo’s heritage.
In the third series of commemorative limited-edition watches celebrating Seiko’s 145th anniversary, “Edo purple” serves as a central design element. This colour reflects traditions passed on from ancient Edo to modern-day Tokyo and the spirit of creativity that has kept Japan’s largest city evolving into the present day.
This model’s dial colour is inspired by “Edo purple,” a hue that embodies the aesthetic sensibilities of the Edo period Tokyo and represents a cultural heritage to be passed on to future generations.
This solar chronograph inherits from the iconic designs of the Speedtimer series from the 1960s-70s. A bi-colour aluminium bezel with a tachymeter can be found on a famous and
highly valued Speedtimer model from the vintage archives.
